Remote, Electronic, Notarization in Massachusetts

On Thursday Massachusetts lawmakers passed a bill that allows for notaries public to remotely perform work central to estate planning, mortgages, and more. The Bill provides that any acknowledgment, affirmation, or other notarial act may be done by attorneys and licenses paralegal notaries via real-time videoconferencing provided certain other criteria are met. The Bill has been sent to Governor Charlie Baker for further review.
