Remote Notarization of Documents During COVID-19 Pandemic

With Social Distancing and the Governor having extended the Stay at Home Order, Senator Bruce Tarr has filed a bill on Beacon Hill that would enable a workaround for people seeking to notarize power of attorney documents, wills, deeds and other forms during the coronavirus pandemic. The Bill would provide the option to make the forms official during Massachusetts’ state of emergency by having the documents notarized remotely, subject to certain requirements and conditions. The remote notarization option is not something intended to be permanent, but a temporary fix to enable people to formalize documents without unnecessarily exposing themselves to the Corona Virus while the state of emergency is in effect.

Please stay tuned for updates.
